Guest Flow at a 1,000-Guest Wedding: Entry, Seating and Parking That Doesn't Jam
At 400 guests and above, a wedding stops being a space problem and becomes a movement problem. How arrival, greeting, seating and dining actually distribute across an evening, and where large Bangalore weddings jam.

A venue that fits 1,000 guests and a venue that moves 1,000 guests are not the same venue.
Space is a static calculation, square feet against headcount, and we have covered that math separately. Flow is a time calculation, and it is the one that decides whether your reception feels grand or feels like a queue. Almost every large Bangalore wedding that goes wrong goes wrong here, in the first ninety minutes.
Guests do not arrive evenly
The planning mistake underneath most jams is assuming a smooth arrival curve. Guests do not trickle in across four hours. For a reception with a stated start time, arrivals cluster hard: a small group turns up fifteen or twenty minutes early, then somewhere between 55 and 70% of everyone lands inside a 45 to 60 minute window, and a long tail arrives through the rest of the evening.
For 1,000 guests that peak means 550 to 700 people arriving in about an hour. Every system at the venue, from the gate to the parking to the receiving line to the seating, has to absorb that rate rather than the four-hour average. A venue that tells you "guests keep coming all evening, it spreads out" is describing the tail and ignoring the peak.
Where the four jams happen
The gate
330 cars arriving inside an hour works out at roughly one vehicle every eleven seconds at peak. With one entry lane and one security check, the queue forms on the public road outside and it does not clear.
The fix is more than one entry point, valet staffed to the peak rather than the average, and a drop-off point separated from the parking entrance so guests can get out while vehicles queue. A valet clears one car every three to four minutes, so an hour of 330 cars needs eight to ten of them working continuously.
The receiving line
This is the most common failure and it is pure arithmetic. A receiving line moves four to six guests per minute. At 1,000 guests that is three to four hours through one line, which is longer than the reception itself.
The fix is to treat greeting as something guests pass beside rather than through. Position the stage so the flow into the venue does not run through the greeting queue. Accept that at this scale not every guest will greet the couple individually, and design a photo opportunity that runs in parallel rather than in series.
The buffet
Ten stations for 1,000 guests is the right count. Where it breaks is placement and queue direction.
Distribute stations around the perimeter instead of banking them together, make them double-sided where possible so two queues serve one station, and make sure queues form away from the dining area rather than through it. Duplicate the popular items across several stations, because a single live counter for the dish everyone wants creates a queue that no amount of floor space solves.
The exit
Departures cluster harder than arrivals. When the event ends, a large share of guests wants their car inside twenty minutes.
Collect valet tickets before guests reach the porch, staff retrieval for the surge, and check the porch is big enough to load three or four cars at once rather than one at a time.
How 1,000 guests actually distribute
At any moment during a large reception, guests are not all doing the same thing. A realistic distribution at peak:

This is why the total-capacity number misleads. You are rarely accommodating 1,000 people in one space. You are accommodating five simultaneous activities, each needing its own area, with clear routes between them. A venue with one large hall and nothing else forces all five into the same room.
It is also the practical argument for a venue with several distinct spaces rather than a single big one. The spaces separate the activities, and that separation is what keeps people moving.
Planning the sequence
For a 1,000-guest evening, the running order matters as much as the layout.
Stagger the invitation times if the format allows, because different times for different guest groups spread the arrival peak better than any infrastructure. Open the venue before the stated start, so early arrivals are absorbed rather than queueing. Open dining before the greeting queue peaks, because if food is available while the receiving line is long, guests distribute themselves. Keep the dance floor off the main circulation path or it becomes an obstacle. And brief the venue team on your actual peak rather than your guest count, since "700 people in an hour" tells them something that "1,000 guests" does not.

- What is the washroom fixture count? Roughly one per 100 guests is the working minimum.
